What's Happening Now in Narrandera?

The Cad Factory is working with local makers and renowned Textile Artist Nicole Barakat to create a textile based work which will become a part Shadow Places, a larger multi-disciplinary work that will be exhibited at the Powerhouse Museum (now Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences) in Castle Hill from 2 September.

The Cad Factory is also working with local makers for a supported studio project around Land Dialogues to create work which will be exhibited at Narrandera Arts Centre in October.

Western Riverina Arts will hold an arts networking get-together at the Narrandera Arts Centre on Saturday 15 June 2016 at 5pm. Join us for a nibble and drinks - give a short presentation about your arts or just meet other artists, writers and makers.

That is the first day (16 July from 10am)  on which the Arts Centre will be open. See the Murrumbidgee Marramarra Exhibition. A very fine collection of work by Aboriginal artists from the Griffith district.

Sarah McEwan is curating the third in a series of exhibitions in recognition of International Women's Day. Around 22 female artists from across the Riverine will exhibit at the Gallup Gallery at CSU Wagga Campus in March 2017.

Pen to Paper is meeting weekly at member's homes.
Makers Group meets at the ArtsHub@theStation second Saturday of each month from 10am. Bring what you are working on.

Invitation to work on the On Common Ground Textile River Hanging - 18-19 July

This is your last opportunity to be one of the dyeing group working on the On Common Ground Project. See your invitation here.

Mosaic Art Group - Starting 27 June.

Hi all,
This weekend Joyce Spencer and Julie Roffe called a meeting of people interested i starting a Mosaic Group who would meet regularly in Narrandera. Here's Julie's message after the meeting.

"Well, it's obvious from the great number of people at today's meeting, along with everyone who responded to our invitation to say they were unable to attend the meeting, but were keen to be involved, a Mosaic Group has been born!

From the meeting, the following things were decided:

* The first Mosaic group will begin on 27th June from 1pm at the Railway Station room.

* Mosaic group will meet at the Railway Station room on the 4th Saturday of each month from 10am until you've had enough! (3-4pm).

* Participants are to become members of NACNET (Narrandera Art and Craft Network) at a cost of $10 per year which will cover insurance and room rental. Being a member of NACNET allows us the opportunity to seek their assistance in recruiting guest artists to run workshops,
etc, in the future.

* A roster will be developed for participants to supply morning and afternoon tea for the group.

* Participants are expected to bring along their own supplies and projects.

Other topics discussed were:

* Joyce and I have a lot of tiles left from our Mosaic Workshops which we thought we'd bag up and sell to individual group members. It was proposed at the meeting that these supplies could be purchased by the group as a whole so they can be shared by everyone and will provide
participants with some supplies to get started with.

* We would love to see the group contribute items for display at the Narrandera Show.

* There is an opportunity for the group to participate in some community projects also.

Thanks to everyone who attended today’s meeting. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Introductory Mosaic Group on Saturday 27th June from 1pm at the Railway Station Room. Please don’t hesitate to contact either Joyce (69592316) or myself (69599065) with any queries. Hope to
see you all then!

Happy Mosaicing!"

Julie Roffe

P.S Joyce Spencer will supply afternoon tea for our first group on Saturday 27th June! Thanks Joyce!
